Dr. Georgios Karagiannis

Senior Researcher

Dr. Georgios Karagiannis is a scientific and technical head of the Diagnosis Centre of the «ORMYLIA» Foundation. He is scientific collaborator of «ORMYLIA» Foundation since January 1997. His research field is related to Non-Destructive Testing, Multispectral imaging and Spectroscopic imaging, Signal processing and Knowledge Management as well as the optimize-combined use of these methods in various scientific and industrial applications. Since 1998, he is involved as coordinator as well as principal participant in European R&D as well as industrial projects related to NDT techniques development and application in art objects diagnosis and documentation, biomedical diagnosis, image and signal processing and knowledge management. He is also reviewer in several scientific journals as well as evaluator of European commission for RTD projects. He has been also member of technical and scientific committees of international conferences as well as chairman in special sessions of them. From 1998, he teaches also to the master of degree of conservation and restoration of art-objects of the school of engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has more than 20 publications in international scientific journals, more than 55 presentations to international scientific conferences and 17 invited lectures. He holds two national and one international patent. He is member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Dr. Sophia Sotiropoulou

Senior Researcher

Sophia Sotiropoulou studied at the Physics Department of the University of Athens, she continued her postgraduate studies in Archaeometry and prepared her PhD in Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, on the subject of “Optimization of colour measurements in paintings using non-destructive techniques’. She has extensive research experience in the analytical investigation and multidisciplinary documentation of archaeological and cultural heritage objects, in general. Since 1996, she is a researcher associated to the “Ormylia” Foundation – Art Diagnosis Centre. During her research career she is specialized in applying imaging techniques, optical, photometric and spectroscopic methods for the analysis of materials, the study of mechanisms of natural aging and the characterization of cultural heritage objects, specifically paintings and generally objects with colour applied to different substrates. Also, she is active in research related to lighting, studying the role of light in the visual perception and appreciation of museum objects in display.

Georgios Apostolidis

Apostolidis Georgios was born in Drama, Greece in 1987 and he graduated from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2012. This period he works as electrical and computer engineer in Artdiagnosis Center of Ormylia Foundation. Also, he is Phd student in ECE dept. of AUTh. His scientific interests include advanced signal processing techniques. Finally, he is student member of IEEE and Technical Chamber of Greece.

Dr Stamatis Amanatiadis  Electrical & Computer Engineer
Research Associate

Amanatiadis Stamatis was born in Alexandroupolis, Greece in 1987. He received his diploma and PhD from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2010 and 2016, respectively. His scientific interests include numerical methods in engineering and especially computational electromagnetics. He is currently a research associate in Artdiagnosis Center of Ormylia Foundation.

Konstantinos Panayiotou

Konstantinos Panayiotou is an undergraduate student at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki. He is an active member of the PANDORA robotic team (http://pandora.ee.auth.gr) mainly working on software development, optimizations, system distributions, motors control and sensor control and data acquisition. He is a research associate (internship) at the ORMYLIA team working for the development of robotic applications, Cloud Platform – To- Robot interfaces and communications. He is currently working with the NAO robot for the RAPP project (www.rapp-project.eu) developing robotic applications for the elderly. He has extended experience in programming and developing in C, C++, JavaScript and Python and has an excellent knowledge of ROS (Robotic Meta –Operating System) and Unix-like systems.

Sofia Reppou

Sofia Reppou

Sofia Reppou obtained her MSc degree from the Psychology department of Sheffield University and her BSc degree from the Psychology department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She was engaged for several years in managerial positions at Vodafone Telecommunications and has extended experience in project management as well as human resource management. During the last years she is working as a researcher in EU projects. Her research interests include Human-Robot interaction, social psychology, education for people at risk of exclusion and e-learning. She is a currently a research associate with the Ormylia Foundation working on RAPP (FP7 EU): Robotic Applications for Delivering Smart User Empowering Applications.

Dr. Konstantinos Vavliakis

Research Associate

Dr. Konstantinos Vavliakis received his diploma and PhD from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2007 and 2013 respectively. He is currently a research associate at the Intelligent Systems and Software Engineering Labgroup of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 2007 he participated in various EU, national and private sector funded research projects as a research associate with the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre for Research and Technology and the Diagnosis Centre of Ormylia Foundation, in the areas of data mining, social media analysis, semantic web, e-health and knowledge management for cultural heritage. He has also been a teaching assistant in in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, teaching Database Systems and Algorithm Analysis and Design. 

Dr. Christos Salpistis

Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Dept.

Dr. Christos Salpistis is Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). He is teaching Experimental Stress Analysis, Electronics and Mechatronics. Dr. Salpistis research activities are focused on Tribology and Thermo-elastohydrodynamic lubrication, Mechatronics applications, Art & Biomedical diagnostic methods, and Automotive Engineering. He has more than 46 publications in international referred journal and conference proceedings. He participated in more than 28 research projects funded by the European Union, Greek authorities and leading European and international enterprises. He is active member of national and international scientific organizations.

Dr. Theodosis Karamanos

Theodosios Karamanos was born in 1986 in Athens and grew up in Argos, Argolis. In 2010 he graduated from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE), Polytechnic School, Artistotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). In October 2016 he was proclaimed a doctor of DECE AUTh, with his doctoral thesis entitled “Modeling of the response of electrically-small scatterers and three-dimensional periodic structures via polarizabilities” . His research interests are focused on the following: Metamaterials (analysis, homogenization, characterization, circuit modelling, active metamaterials and applications in antennas and wave propagation), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems (measurements, immunity techniques, shieldings etc.), waveguide and free-space propagation problems (special antennas, miniaturization, waveguide structures etc.), dyadic Green functions applications in electromagnetism. He is a member of the ΙΕΕΕ Antennas and Propagation Society, the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society  and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
